Advances five arguments
For the existence of a deity
In the light of logical deduction
Based on the concepts
Of motion, cause, necessity,
Gradation and design,

But ever since the arrival
Of Enlightenment science,
St Thomas’s logic

has looked less and less logical

In the light of the evidence
Of empirical fact.

St Thomas, of course,
When writing his Summa,
Lived centuries too soon
To know much about that

And anyway I personally think
That between the sum of theology
And the subtraction of science
I’d quite like a deity
If He, She or They’s nice.
