Added sugar provides no nutritional value
In food and drink, but in combination with fat,
As the food-processing people could tell you,
It can produce the bliss point they aim at.

The unfortunate result is that addiction to sugar
Has caused a health crisis: diabetes, obesity,
Heart disease and tooth decay, leading to
A rise in mortality.

The poetical equivalent of a sugar rush is rhyme
But there’s no need for alarm:
Consumed in moderation,
It won’t do you harm.
